Review Chapter 1: Perspective On Language & Their Impacts On Language Teaching Methodologies from the "EFL Teaching Methodology book"

   The book entitled “EFL Teaching Methodology” is a book created by a lecturer at the English education study program at Kuningan University, namely Dr. Fahrus Zaman Fadhly, M.Pd. One of the things that the author will review is chapter 1 of the book with the title "Perspective On Language & Their Impacts On Language Teaching Methodologies".

   Chapter 1 presented provide an in-depth analysis of various perspectives in language teaching, including structural linguistics, behaviorism, cognitivism, and sociocultural aspects. By combining these theories, this chapter shows how each approach has made a significant contribution to language teaching methodology. This is critical to helping educators understand the complexities of language acquisition and design more effective strategies.

   One of the main strengths of this chapter is the emphasis on social interaction in language learning. Referring to Vygotsky's theory and sociocultural approach, this text highlights the importance of social and cultural context in language acquisition. Approaches that encourage communicative and collaborative practice can enrich the learning experience and provide students with opportunities to be actively engaged.

   In addition, the integration of technology in language teaching discussed in this chapter is also very relevant. With advances in technology, educators have more tools to create interactive and engaging learning experiences. Examples of the use of digital platforms and online resources demonstrate how technology can increase accessibility and student engagement.

   This chapter also shows the importance of an eclectic approach, which combines different perspectives and theories to create a more holistic teaching methodology. This approach allows educators to adapt teaching methods to different student needs and contexts, thereby increasing learning effectiveness.

  Overall, this chapter provides valuable insights into language teaching that can serve as a guide for educators. By understanding and applying these different perspectives, they can create a more inclusive and adaptive learning environment, and optimally support the development of students' language skills.

     Language has two important parts: form and function. Form means how the language is built. It includes grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. For example, how we make sentences using the subject, verb, and object. It also includes how we use past tense, or how to say words correctly. Function means the reason why we use the language.
